I'm with Bart Ehrman -- the contradictions in the Bible are interesting and should not be waved aside. For instance, in the first version, God somehow causes David to sin by holding a census. In the later
Chronicles version, Satan does it.
Attempts are made to deny a contradiction. But, it's more likely that this is an example of
changing thoughts about good and evil, something readily cited in the notes to
The New American Bible (Catholic).
