Mother's Day Poem

In a time not too long ago,
You brought forth a being quite unformed.
His future self unknown ...
His fate unclear on account of the fogs of fate.
So it was not too long ago.

He was named in honor of someone who came before,
One who though they never met, was part of family lore.
The new life was entrusted into the hands of you
As three others were, and one more was to be too.
So his fate was to be in your hands for many years more.

And the years passed ...
Some quick, some slow, some special, some ordinary
But all with one constant ever in the wings
One special force always present
Ever since that time not too many years ago.

So a new year, new century is here
With so much more for many to fear.
But the more things change, some things stay
As they were those years before this month of May.
The most important thing being you, ever so dear.
