Kerry, The Amateur

[T]he attacks on John Kerry's "sensitivity" are egregiously unfair and dishonest. Still, around town liberals are wondering how Kerry's speechwriters could have failed to foresee that including the phrase "more sensitive" in his speech would leave him vulnerable to this sort of abusive treatment. The answer, it seems, is that they didn't fail to foresee it at all [it probably was an ad lib] ...

This doesn't get the Bush campaign off the hook for its dishonesty, or the press for their complicity, but life -- especially in a presidential campaign -- isn't fair and a smart candidate needs to deal with the realities of the situation.

And Tariq Ali on the occupation -- just end it! See here as well. Utopian or just necessary? You decide.
