Hate Crime
TalkLeft's official policy is opposition to hate crime legislation. I share the concerns [see also GG] and think the negative feedback can be counterproductive. The federal bill is named after Matthew Shepard, whose murderers got heavy sentences. The funding and educational stuff might be okay. The only exception I might have is if a state does not enforce a law, like in the 1950s, out of animus. Hate crime laws are much broader than that as a whole.
