Upholding the Rights of Sex Workers

These appeals and the cross-appeal are not about whether prostitution should be legal or not. They are about whether the laws Parliament has enacted on how prostitution may be carried out pass constitutional muster. I conclude that they do not.
“I” being a woman chief justice (Ginsburg is smiling). This is a case where fair form can in practice lead to a general right to something since outlawing it fairly is pretty hard to accomplish. More here.

Off topic: recalling a discussion from a number of years ago, have you seen "The Intelligent Plant" by Michael Pollan in the 12/23 New Yorker? Makes the ethics of my tribe's standing rib for Christmas an easier debate position. Merry Christmas!

Whatever the status of a plant, it has not reached pig, cow, duck, chicken, fish or even lobster territory of consciousness. They also are not raised on factory farms or result in the same level of environmental or other damage. The wonder of all life wants respect and due stewardship. But, this won't do the trick. Congrats on the miracle kick making this a race between the Bears and Packs unless something strange happens.

I am curious as to how you can discern the consciousness of any of those animals, but particularly the lobster. Then too, how can you dismiss the consciousness of, say, a corn stalk; just because it doesn't have apparent eyes? Then too, corn would seem to make a mockery of your comment about factory farms and the dead zone in the gulf of Mexico would argue against dismissal of the environmental damage done by fertilizer and pesticide runoff in the raising of plants.

Sorry you brought up the Bears. In my opinion, the entire NFC North should be disqualified from the playoffs. Nonetheless, Illinois and Wisconsin will yell at each other on the 29th.

If the NFC North should be disqualified, don't know about the NFC East ("East" since Dallas is apparently "east" too). AFC South is a joke too.

I am not really much of an evangelist here, and my family too will eat the forbidden fruit, but I think the difference between a dog and a corn stalk is pretty easy to determine on a relevant basis. I realize cute farm animals are a selective concern. I'll won't belabor it but I kinda hope you aren't too seriously about this.

Not too serious from an ethical standpoint but very interested in the subject. Mostly I was twisting your tail based on past snarky "debates". If you haven't read it, the article is well worth your while. The organic world is truly amazing.
