The Nats finished off the Brewers four game losing streak with a comeback in the eighth. Not so for the As, who fell into an early hole, held there (pen came in the third and gave up all of one run, but they compensated with an unearned run) but were held mostly scoreless. So, thanks in part to former Astro Charlie Morton [five innings], the Rays will now face them.
The talk was that he was a dead man walking (even having another year left on his contract) and Mickey Callaway was fired as Mets manager. He made some dubious moves, but eighty-six wins is pretty impressive especially with all the pen problems they had. The key here is WHO they replace him with and unless it's a game changer, the move to me is not impressive. The GM also firmly said Noah and Diaz will remain. Why? You don't "definitely" say anything like that unless you are talking DeGrom or a player nicknamed a cute animal. The GM annoys me. Anyway, the problem is ultimately ownership.
