It took a short field and then a missed two point conversion at the end of the game for the Titans to win, as I suspected would happen, but the Jets lost too. If the former didn't happen, well, Jets fans would feel worse (except for the real masochist ones, of which there are some) since the late game teams that had to lose all did. Miami didn't exactly play well, though a 58 yd field goal and some life in the Second Half was shown. It was more that the Jets, for at least the third week in a row, didn't quite show up.
Thus, they are one of several 8-8 teams, one of which won the AFC West. Tim Tebow time has not been occurring of late, the only score today coming after a muffed punt. KC managed an early score, the final 7-3. But, the Raiders couldn't take advantage of things, San Diego joining the 8-8 mediocrity by beating them. The Bears joined the club as did Arizona, taking until OT. The Cowboys might join too, being down 21-0 at the Half (surprising, that). They even missed a 52yd field goal at the buzzer. Miami managed that plus more.
Bengals lost, but got in with the losses. Falcons got ahead 42-0 and basically coasted the rest of the way, Tampa getting 24 points to the Falcons three, and still losing badly. Before, I said the 49ers clinched the second seed, as they did, but not before they took their minds off the game and let the Rams get seventeen 4th Quarters points and finally remember they didn't win yet. The 49ers, remembering who they were playing, won by seven. Somehow, not helping the Giants or Cowboys, forty-one points wasn't enough vs. the GB scrubs, even a late TD still allowing time to drive nearly to the Red Zone with time left. Interception. Now, Detroit plays the Saints at home. For some reason, Roethlisberger played today, limping to a 13-9 pretty meaningless victory.
As to the playoffs, for the NFC, my teams would be the Giants and the 49ers, the #2 seed, but generally deemed underdogs to the Packers and Saints. Detroit would be okay, but unlikely. Packers, Saints, saw that. Falcons are pretty boring and if they beat the Giants, that would be annoying for that reason. As the the AFC, don't like the Patriots, Steelers or Ravens, really, though they are okay, Houston, I know it's a long shot, would be my choice. Ravens, eh. Bengals would be okay, but well, not going to happen. Denver too, though again, don't see that. Of the teams that have the best shot, the Ravens. Pats keep on (like today) giving up points and then scoring just enough. GB and the Saints would outscore them. The 49ers would be their favored competition but might manage to stop them from scoring.
On to the playoffs! First, the Giants have to finish this thing.
[Update: It's now 21-14. Giants up 21-0 and still manage to make fans sweat. Annoying. But, the Giants held serve, had a long field goal drive, going up by ten, quickly stopped Dallas and scored a clinching TD. And, the D. held it there.]
