Thread of the Silkworm. A victim of the McCarthy Era, he went back to China, and was an integral part of the growth of their missile program -- some eventually used against us in the Middle East. But, Chang also discusses the compromise of his integrity to survive the political horrors of China. A victim two-fold. A well written book that covers many bases, it should not be forgotten in lieu of her latter work. It is especially interesting as a look into growing up in China, the early years of missile research and a window into Communist China. And, it is wonder of research too. All by someone in her mid-20s.
