Race to Witch Mountain, the name tellingly tweaked, is a re-make of
Escape to Witch Mountain ... a movie less a chase / Dwayne Johnson affair than this, plus less violent in a few ways (a fan of the original book underlined the point). Formula it might be (down to the evil government alien chaser, sigh), but it is fairly painless formula. Added plus that Carla Gugino joins in.
