Hard to find a better case for the death penalty (lifer killing of a guard during an escape attempt) and one of the two involved has been (quickly) executed after a mandatory appeal. One sentence was
struck down. I can understand not being absolutist but some categorical rules are valid, even with the presence of very hard cases. I'm well aware of such things.
