Mickey Callaway, Former Mets Manager, Accused of Sexual Harassment

Mickey Callaway, former Mets manager, sometimes were criticized for his relations with the press or something. But, I did not see anything like this:
Callaway sent uninvited and sometimes unanswered messages to the women via email, text or social media and asked one to send nude photos in return, according to the report. He often commented on their appearance in a way that made them uncomfortable and on one occasion “thrust his crotch near the face of a reporter” while she interviewed him. Another time, he told one of the women he’d share information about the Mets if she got drunk with him, the report said. More than one woman received a shirtless selfie or several from him, and one said he massaged her shoulders in the dugout when he thought nobody was watching, according to the report. Two of the women said they had been warned about Callaway’s behavior by fellow media members and others in baseball, The Athletic said.
But, apparently, Sandy Alderson didn't know about it when he hired MC. Maybe, even if as one woman reporter noted it isn't some solution in itself, having women in management would be helpful. Or, "didn’t speak to any women in the hiring" (to quote Alderson) would be seen as a bad idea. Alderson denies wrongdoing, but the coverage points to a lot of evidence from multiple sources. It just might be that even a few years ago, some behavior, especially if it happened in the past, is not disqualifying. We are still traveling ont he path to change. Clear lines, some which people will deem too harsh, needs to be drawn.
In a 2016 class-action suit brought by the Legal Aid Society challenging the law, five of the eight named plaintiffs were transgender women of color arrested for simply standing outside, speaking to one another, or walking home from the subway or grocery store.

On that front, while things happen in D.C., New York passed a law revoking what in practice was a way to be arrested while "walking trans" law. The law literally barred " “loitering for the purpose of prostitution," but such laws traditionally was an arbitrary means to target people deemed unsavory. Some are for a more open-ended repeal of sex crimes that ban consensual acts, but this law specifically bars a lot more than that. The repeal would help guide against entrapment and selectively targeting people who are merely dressed in a certain way or at most maybe are looking for sex without pay.

Again, as with the still ongoing attempts to legalize marijuana, broader reforms are probably ideal. But, this is a good step.

Update: There was a lot of drama that the Mets might get Trevor B., who appears to be on the rise though the long term big money he sought is a bit much for his actual body of work.  He also had baggage, including being an asshole on Twitter.  This all turned me off, especially when people wanted to handwave it given the Mets as an organization has issues at the moment. Time to draw a clear line. Anyway, he wound up going to the Dodgers.
