The Hallmark movie was Love Strikes Twice, a pleasant (well acted/paced) fantasy about a thirty something lawyer who magically gets to do a "do over" from fifteen years ago. Earlier in day, caught a repeat of another recent one, Snowkissed, with an actress I saw before (Jen Lilley). It too was enjoyable.
(I wondered about the accent of the actress and thought she sounded like Jill Hennessy. I might not be crazy since both are Canadian, if not apparently from the same province.)
Baseball Update: The Mets found a chance to have one more mediocre "Cookie" start and lose another one run game, drawing close late and loading the bases in the ninth. The winning run ultimately was a tacked on run given up to Robert Gsellman, back from his long break.
The Padres (swept by Braves and Dodgers) managed -- if in the 10th -- to actually win a game versus the Giants. Thus, with the Brewers losing again, there is actually a one game difference between them and the Dodgers. I still think the Dodgers won't win again plus the Giants losing, but hey it's possible. That would require a one game playoff.
The Yanks (Rays) lost badly, the Red Sox won again okay (Nats), the Blue Jays won comfortably (Orioles), and after giving up three in the eighth, the Mariners scored three of their own (Angels), so won. Winner? Ex-Met Paul Sewald, now thriving in Seattle. Now, all the non-Yanks team are probably (well some of their fans at least) smacking themselves for not winning one more game, especially versus the Yanks, but so it goes.
So, the Yanks and Red Sox are now tied with the Blue Jays and Seattle one back. The Nats have shown some life versus the Red Sox, the Orioles just won a series versus them, the Angels are playing the Mariners tough (they aren't a bad team really), and you figure the Yanks can win once against the Rays. But, well that race too is going to Game 162 and there are various ways there might need to be a possible tie breaker.
In what might have been, the Phils lost too, so even if they won a game instead of being swept by the Braves, today could have been elimination day. I thought a 2-1 Braves series was more likely than the sweep. Oh well. The Phils did manage to win over .500, which is of limited relief, maybe, but did any Phils fan (as compared to the Braves) really expect much more?
Ah, competitive parity.
