We have an extra week and playoff team with only one bye. I'm not really show how much all of that matters, except to give one more mediocre team a shot, and a good team a shot to lose without the bye. And, of course, more advertising and tickets/concessions etc.
Week 18 had many games that didn't mean much, but also (down to SNF) some that did. The big upset was Jags over Colts, which allowed the Steelers (via OT) a playoff spot. Though it took to the very end of OT in the SNF to do it. A tie would have meant both SNF teams in but not the Steelers. Raiders won, eliminating the Chargers.
Giants played as expected with their third stringer (should have let the other guy play a bit) though got a TD. Jets lost somewhat less badly to the divisional winning Bills. Both NY teams have four wins, but the Jets with a new QB and other things probably feel better about it. ETA: Some suggested it wasn't a gimmee, but the Giants head coach is gone.
