I saw a bit of this 1950s B-film noir before and it is rather overheated. It's fun if you are in the right mood. Two actresses are nice on the eyes.
Various familiar faces in supporting roles, including Donna Reed's t.v. husband, a young Aaron Spelling (yes, he was an actor), and the Have Gun - Will Travel guy.
The Solid Gold Cadillac [we get that at the very end of the film, a bit of color with the rest of the film in B&W] is a better film. Put a smile on my face. The star actress had that quality.
TCM tonight has some Judy Holliday films. She is best known for Born Yesterday, but this was an enjoyable film about a somewhat similar (if smarter) character, a small stockholder who teaches the big boys that they were right to be afraid of her.
She even goes to Washington, like in the former film. And, her love interest in fact played with her on the stage (and he later played the role on television) as the heavy in Born Yesterday. Holliday died in her forties of cancer, health problems shortening her career. Wikipedia tells me she even had her moment in front of Congress, being caught up in the Red Scare!
Her one child was in the business too and died a few years ago.
