Almost like when JFK was killed or 9/11 occurred, I remember where I was when I heard about it: on the way, driving to the wedding of the son of a good friend who was in the IG's office of HUD and a good progressive. I shouted with rage and nearly ruined my friend's party by telling him as we walked into the reception. The rage has abated over time but the cold contempt endures.
I don't recall where I was when it was announced but do remember hearing the stay on the radio. Naively, as I did early on election day when Gore was still ahead, I figured all was not at end.
