May Day etc.

May 1st has various labels. Wikipedia tells me in ancient times it was seen as the start of summer (tad early). It also later became a workers' holiday, sometimes with a communist/socialist feel. That being a bit scary for some, May Day is also Law Day, which honors the rule of law. President Biden's proclamation honors "We the People," while granting equality is still a goal, not a full reality.

One thing the White House website likes is a good proclamation, there being lots. May 2022 is also Jewish American Heritage Month (first set by Bush43), which has special weight giving our First Gentleman. As noted at the link, the "in the year of the Lord" bit is taken out, a nice reminder that words can mean something. RBG recognized that as well.
