Stephen Colbert recently took a shot at Hallmark Channel movies being very white. And, yeah, they tend to have white leads with some person of color tossed in as a colleague or friend. Maybe, the channel started to get the memo because they seem to be starting to include some more "color" in their movies. This includes multiple biracial romances.
This one has a familiar male lead (twelve Hallmark movies!). I agree with the person there that this has a different feel than usual and "impeccably written that the discussions about race flowed naturally" also is on point ("impeccably" is a bit strong, but it has a good script). Tossing in the Judaism is a bit much! The film takes time to tell the stories of each, the romance often not being the focus. But, that's fine. Don't let this one get lost in the bunch.
The other two linked are less race conscious, but both were pretty good too (like the sweet pecan one better, but yeah, on the "lazy" part.).
